Bournemouth is one of the most famous places in England and its popularity has grown hugely. The town has a large and lively student population, and combines the excitement of a big city with the homeliness of a smaller town.

It is a great place to study and the town has something for everyone; 7 miles of beaches, a lively centre for shopping and culture as well as the fantastic nightlife in the many bars, pubs and clubs!

And you don't just have to take our word for it - take a look at the Bournemouth tourism website or the Lonely Planet entry.

For a more factual, and perhaps impartial, analysis, you could always look at the wikipedia entry.

Shopping

Bournemouth is a tourist town, and so there are plenty of places to shop! Whether you are interested in famous brands, or discount charity shops, you'll surely find what you're looking for!

Away from Bournemouth town centre, and near to some of the most popular student residential areas is Castlepoint: the largest shopping park in the UK with many of the biggest stores in the region.

Beaches

Bournemouth is famous for having "7 miles of golden sands" - our beach stretches from Christchurch to Poole.

At one end of the 7 miles is Hengistbury Head, an area of natural beauty and a site of international historical importance. At the other end, you will find Sandbanks, famous as much for its beautiful coastline as it is for the exclusive property prices.

Climate

Because we are located on the south coast of England, we benefit from a mild climate. We do not suffer the extremes of temperature, and rainfall is well below the national average.

Sports & Leisure

For sports enthusiasts, Bournemouth has something to offer you, whatever your budget. There are many gyms that offer great prices for international students, such as Better Gym Bournemouth or PureGym.

The Littledown Centre is a large leisure centre, offering a swimming pool as well as training facilities and health classes.

We're also proud of our local football team, AFC Bournemouth. Their nickname is "The Cherries" and we've played some big teams recently, like Real Madrid and Liverpool. We lost though...
