There are a number of student residences in and around the town centre, offering you a room in a large, shared building with other students.
Residential accommodation is designed for adult students, not for families or children. It is normally very comfortable and in a great location.
Residential accommodation is normally in the town centre, which means that you will not need to use public transport and you will be able to walk to school within 10 - 15 minutes.
Residential accommodation normally includes a private en-suite bathroom, which means that you will not share your bathroom with other people.
Residential accommodation does not include any food. You will need to buy your own food, but you will be able to access a shared kitchen where you can store and prepare your meals.
Residential accommodation does not always include everything; you may need to pay extra for your energy or internet access, for example.
Many residences ask you to pay a refundable damage deposit before you arrive; some also ask for a booking fee.
Your bed linen is always included, and is normally washed and changed on a regular basis.
Towels are not normally included, so you'll need to bring these with you.
You'll be able to wash your clothes whenever you would like, but you may need to pay extra to use the facilities.
Everything depends on which residence you choose; they are all independent businesses, so don't all offer the same thing. We'll help you to understand everything in detail when you are finalising your booking and when we know which residence you prefer.
Residential accommodation is not better or worse than homestay accommodation; they are different and offer different advantages. It is important that you think about what will suit you and your lifestyle.
- Residential accommodation is only for students aged 18 or over.
- Residential accommodation is better for students who want to live in the town centre, within walking distance of the school and with easy access to the beach, shops, bars, and restaurants.
- Residential accommodation is better for students who want more independence or who want to stay up late at night. Having a private room in a student residence means that you do not need to worry about waking up children or older people who need to wake up early for work.
- Residential accommodation is better for students who do not want to live with animals, or who have extreme allergies. Most homestay hosts have pets; dogs and cats are very common and we understand that this can be uncomfortable for students from other cultures.
We're very happy to organise residential accommodation for our students; we can invoice you and you can pay us as normal. We then handle your booking for you.
However, the student residences are independent business so you are able to contact them directly and manage your booking privately if you prefer.
