Our Students

The majority of our students come from European countries; we regularly welcome new students from France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, Turkey and the Czech Republic. With such a mix of nationalities, our lessons are always conducted in English and students are only allowed to speak English at school.

About 10% of our student population is non-European; many Arabic and Asian students enjoy coming to our school because of the fact that they are always in the minority and surrounded by European students. This ensures that all of our students speak as much English as possible, in and out of the classroom.

Ages

We welcome adult students (16 years or over) at any time of year; the average age is about 20 years old. Many of our students want to improve their English for future work and travel or to prepare for and take an English language exam.

We also accept younger students but we have a minimum age of 10 years old if the student wants to join a normal class. Students younger than 10 may be offered private (one-to-one) lessons but this must be discussed on an individual basis.

Students between the ages of 10 and 15 (inclusive) are welcome to join our Summer Programme during July and August. We regret that we cannot accommodate junior students outside of our Summer Programme.

Au Pairs & Working Students

Our courses are designed to be as flexible as possible and this allows us to welcome many working students. Such students cannot come to school every day but are still able to take part in the courses and prepare for exams if they want to. If you work in or around Bournemouth, please telephone us to talk about prices and courses specific to your needs.

We welcome many students from Abbey Au Pairs and Andrea Rose Au Pairs. If you are interested in becoming an Au Pair or would like more information about what the job entails, please speak to Odile Hamblett (Abbey Au Pairs) or Andrea Rose directly.

Group Bookings

The school works with international agents who regularly send groups of students. If you are interested in sending a group of students to Bournemouth, please contact us by telephone or email and we would be happy to discuss your requirements.

Special Requirements

If you have any special requirements, please don't hesitate to contact us. Being a small school, we can be very flexible and we are happy to meet your individual needs.
