Situated just a two-minute walk from the town centre and 5 minutes from the beach, The Bournemouth School of English offers a high standard of education in some of the most pleasant surroundings England has to offer.
The beautiful school building dates from 1867 and has been used as a school since 1985. In 2008, the school was completely redecorated and changes were made to increase the standard of the environment. With brand new classrooms and bathrooms, as well as a new coffee room that now has 12 internet-ready computers for our students to use, we are proud that our 2009 British Council inspection recognised both the condition of the premises as well as the standard of tuition.
The school was originally set up by Janet and Betty but is now owned and run by Emma and Mark. Mark is the School Principal and Emma is the Director of Studies. Although the owners have changed, the philosophy of the school has not. We are very proud of our history, the friendly atmosphere we encourage and the high standards we and our students regularly achieve.
We have built upon this history and were pleased to become accredited by The Accreditation Body for Language Services in 2007 and by the British Council in 2009. We are also now members of ABLS (The Association of British Language Schools) as well as English UK. It's important that you are confident when you choose which school to study at, and we hope this recognition gives you the confidence to choose us.
We feel that one of our strengths is the standard of care we offer to our students. Because we are a relatively small school, the teachers and directors know all of our students by their first names. We believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable and relaxed so we try to make every student feel like they are at home.
Our high standards of care are also reflected in the standard of education; we are very proud of the consistently excellent results that our students achieve in internationally recognised ESOL examinations.
Emma and Mark, the two school directors, teach regularly so they can keep a close eye on your progress. This also means that you are always able to speak directly to them if you have a question or problem.
Our teachers are also happy to help and they are very easy to talk to either during the lesson or outside of class times.
